Workshop Service — Inserts
The insert, the first point of contact between the putter and the ball.
Unik Golf offers bespoke insert remanufacturing and replacement — precision work reserved for those who make no compromise on feel.
Every project is studied individually. Feasibility confirmed before any production begins.

The role of the insert
What an insert changes
An insert isn't just a matter of looks. It determines how impact is transmitted, the sound perceived at contact, and how energy is distributed between the putter and the ball. Changing or remanufacturing an insert means deeply altering a putter's character — its sound register, its softness or firmness, its response to off-center putts.
For some golfers, it's about correcting a flaw in feel. For others, it's about optimising a putter they don't want to replace. In both cases, the work demands workshop precision.

Materials
The available materials
Terrylium
The benchmark balanceTerrylium is a beryllium-based alloy known for its density and its ability to dampen unwanted vibrations. It produces a muffled, matte sound, a cushioned feel at impact, and an even energy return across the whole face. It's the material that comes closest to the feel of the original inserts on high-end putters.
- Feel
- Soft, cushioned, no harshness
- Sound
- Matte, discreet
- Suited to
- Golfers sensitive to feel, preferring cushioned feedback
- Compatibility
- TaylorMade Detour, Spider X — Odyssey 2-Ball White Hot OG — Scotty Cameron Studio Style (2005/2006)
Brass
Density and characterBrass is a dense, heavy material, immediately recognisable at impact. It produces a more direct feel than Terrylium, with a slight warm resonance and precise feedback. Its natural mass also changes the weight distribution in the head — a factor to consider for golfers who care about the balance of their putter.
- Feel
- Firm, direct, with a clean response
- Sound
- Warm, slightly resonant
- Suited to
- Golfers who want to feel the impact clearly and monitor the quality of their strike
- Compatibility
- Spider X — TaylorMade GTX / EX — Scotty Cameron Detour
Stainless steel
Precision without compromiseStainless steel offers the firmest, most direct feel among the available materials. It doesn't filter the strike — it returns it as is, with a clarity and sharpness that suit golfers wanting maximum feedback. Its hardness also makes it a highly durable material.
- Feel
- Hard, precise, no dampening
- Sound
- Clear, metallic, defined
- Suited to
- Experienced golfers seeking raw feedback and maximum durability
- Compatibility
- Spider X — TaylorMade GTX / EX
Polymer
Universal adaptabilityPolymer is the softest material in the range, and the only one that can be made for every putter model, whatever the cavity geometry. It offers maximum dampening, an almost silent sound at impact, and a soft feel that suits mallet putters with a large face area particularly well.
- Feel
- Very soft, no resistance, smooth
- Sound
- Near-silent, neutral
- Suited to
- Golfers preferring a neutral feel and full dampening
- Compatibility
- All models
Shop
Available references and shop options
For certain frequently requested models and materials, Unik Golf keeps ready-made inserts, available to order directly from the shop. These references are ready to ship for golfers who wish to carry out the installation themselves.
This option remains secondary: the workshop's main activity is bespoke remanufacturing, tailored to each model, each geometry, and each specific request. For any request outside the available references — or to confirm a model's compatibility — the process starts with a direct conversation with the workshop.
Method
Bespoke work, one piece at a time
Remanufacturing an insert is one of the most technical operations the workshop offers. Every putter has a different cavity — dimensions, depth, angles, body material — and any remanufacturing begins with a feasibility analysis.
For models already worked on, lead times are known and under control. For a model handled for the first time, the production time can reach 4 to 7 weeks depending on the chosen material and the geometric complexity.
No project is started without prior confirmation of feasibility and timeline.

Insert installation
Installation includes fitting, alignment, and checking the insert's seating in the cavity. It's carried out in the workshop on the client's putter.

Your putter deserves an insert matched to your feel, not an off-the-shelf compromise. Contact the workshop to confirm feasibility, choose the material, and set the timeline.
